The Loud Exhaust Pipe Cycle

Blog Date - 17 September 2012

Ever since I've been riding the whole thing about noisy exhaust pipes has run and run.  The government makes the noise emissions ever quieter, some bikers don't like this so they remove the legal pipes and fit noisy pipes.  As they ride around they're heard by everyone from mother's pushing prams to lawyers and politicians.  Many people, if not most people, are disgruntled by the noise and complaints are made.  The government receive lots of complaints about loud motorcycle exhaust systems so they make the noise emissions even quieter.  Some bikers don't like this and fit loud pipes...

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

Mine's legal and yet it's far noisier than the standard (humongous) silencer - it's a BlueFlame twin-port oval jobbie.

I fitted it because it's lighter, more attractive and sounds great. Makes the bike sound like a "proper" bike instead of a phutt-phutt.

I fully appreciate that many people don't like noisy rip snorting bikes and I'm one of them. How those God-awful Harleys can get away with slash cut open pipes, I do not know! They're just plain ridiculous (like their owners in their leather chaps and studded jackets).
